Painting 1:1 is an action realised in Antwerp, next to From me to you during Antwerp Art Weekend during which I’ve painted with water the setting of the city. It’s a kind of extended painting: instead of painting on a support, I directly apply a transparent layer on reality itself. Painting process transforms into cleaning gesture. This performance pushes the logic of illusionism at its paroxysm: the “denoted” matches perfectly with the “denoting”, the “pictorial image” blends with “reality”.
