beau désordre is an installation realized for the 6th edition of Art au Centre (Liège). Its name comes from a sentence by writer Eugène Savitzkaya: “un beau désordre vaut mieux qu’une inerte ordonnance” (”a beautiful mess is better than an inert order”). This sentence is presented in the space on a television screen, besides a confused mind map and a painting depicting a Roman statue, covered by blue lines. On the ground, some news pictures, organic elements, hardware components and waste are trapped in resin. Resin here performs a function of preservation, similar to embalming, making the present past and the past, present.
