I Like Painting and Painting Likes Me is a filmed performance set on the outskirts of Brussels. I set up an easel in a field. I begin to paint the horizon. I confront the weight of painting. I hesitate, then insist. The gesture shifts. I push it until it breaks. Painting turns into destruction. The landscape becomes a space of release and catharsis.
